Woodspan PLT Panels: “A Mass Timber Solution Combining Strength with Beauty”

A recently completed project overlooking stunning Oakura beach has highlighted not only Woodspan PLT panels as a prefabricated, structural floor and roof solution; but also the benefit Woodspan can bring to a project when used as an architectural feature.

Woodspan® PLT (Parallel Laminated Timber) panels are an innovative solution to your construction build, with applications for use as a floor or roof structure. PLT mass timber and the element of prefabrication offsite results in a fit for purpose, structurally efficient panelised system delivered to site for fast, accurate installation. All panels are proudly manufactured and fabricated in New Zealand out of locally sourced renewable plantation Radiata pine. Over the next month the business will take delivery of an advanced Hundegger CNC machine that will take our fabrication to another level.

This project featured Woodspan PLT panels as a structural ground floor (partial), midfloor and roof; the underside of the roof and midfloor panels were then left exposed internally and finished with a whitewash coating system to showcase the beautiful natural timber finish; complementing the other aspects of the interior design and bringing an element of warmth throughout this family home.

Completed on time and well ahead of a conventional build of this size, this project was designed and built by the talented and creative team at Boon Architects and Chris Bell Construction.
