Fastwrap Wall for Transportable Charity Home Project

Charity Home Project

Fastwrap Wall Underlay was an obvious choice for the Kapiti Mitre10 Mega Charity house project for the Kapiti Youth Achievement trust.

The charity house project used a prefab design by AD Architecture and has the advantage of being fully transportable. “Portability is a key element for this project as the owner can simply pick the completed house up and move it to a site of their choice. This meant that specifying products that will stand up to all NZ conditions, including the highest wind zones was essential” added Peter Davis, Director of AD Architecture. “We see it as a specify-and-forget product because it’s appraised for use in all areas and all applications - we know we can use it on any job, in any location”.

The charity house project used an innovative modular design by AD Architecture and has the advantage of being fully transportable. “Portability is a key element for this project as the owner can simply pick the completed house up and move it to a site of their choice. This meant that specifying products that will stand up to all NZ conditions, including the highest wind zones was essential” added Peter.

The modular design concept means that additional rooms can easily be added at a later stage and reflects AD Architecture’s commitment to providing smaller, smarter housing solutions. There is also careful consideration given to living comfort and energy efficiency and it’s expected the home will rate well with Homestar.

Paul Industries jumped at the chance to support this community initiative. “It’s such an exciting and worthwhile project” enthused Ben Lloyd, GM Sales & Marketing for Paul Industries. “The home was built by volunteers using donated materials and expertise then sold at auction, with the proceeds going to the Kapiti Youth Achievement Trust. It also provided an opportunity for students at Whiteraia and the general public to improve their understanding of current building codes and some of the newer products on the market.”

Other products donated by Paul Industries for the project include Fastwrap FlameSpec Roof Underlay, Kiwimesh Roof Safe Mesh and Pauloid DPC.
