Come along to hear some provocative quick-fire presentations and catch-up with others that share an interest in the green urban built environment on Wednesday 22 August 4.30-6.30pm.

Site visit and provocative quick-fire presentations: Nelson Airport

Hear and chat with consultants involved in this showpiece of innovative timber construction. The Nelson Airports terminals use of wood as a primary building material has been praised for being a tribute to the region. Use of laminated veneer lumber - or LVL - from Nelson Pine Industries will be integral to the structure. Around 440m3of locally-resourced timber has gone into the project. The LVL portal legs are cantilevered to provide a lateral bracing system that allows for unobstructed clear open spaces internally. Read more

Join us at XLam factory for dive deeper with those who presented and a walking tour of the XLam factory. XLam is focussed on the use of branded CLT and derivative products and is the first manufacturer of cross-laminated timber in the Southern Hemisphere.
