XLam is focussed on the use of branded CLT and derivative products and is the first manufacturer of cross-laminated timber in the Southern Hemisphere.
Irving Smith Architects (ISA), RTA Studio and Dunning Thornton Consultants are collaborating in the design of a new Hub at SCION’s Rotorua Campus. The Building - a three storey timber diagrid with central atrium, and wrap-around diagonal curtain-wall cladding is a world first timber assembly. Andrew Irving (ISA) will discuss the design lessons learnt, and how prototyping and early contractor involvement are being used to enable a highly prefabricated response to this challenging project.
