Irving Smith Architects Ltd is widely recognised as a leading New Zealand architectural practice with a strong focus on environmental design. It is made up of three partners with an experienced team of architectural assistants offering skills and support.
Work centres on Marlborough, the Sounds, Nelson, Tasman and Golden Bay, areas they enjoy and know intimately. They also work throughout New Zealand and overseas. Each project is managed personally by a partner. High standards of drawing and documentation ensure competitive pricing and problem-free construction.
With some 1600 commissions to date, their commitment to design excellence has resulted in many design awards and widespread publication of their work. Irving Smith Architects are the architects of the Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT) Arts and Media Building - a ground-breaking multi-storey timber structure that PrefabNZ ran an event to visit this building in November 2010.
