Christo is a final year construction student at Massey University and has chosen the topic of Feasibility of Modular Prefabricated classrooms in Auckland schools as a solution to an increased enrollment due to population growth. Schools are at maximum utilization and needs innovative solutions to solve their issue quickly. The research undertaken will be focused on cost and time benefits compared to conventional construction and the satisfaction of current users. Quantity Surveying is Christo's major and the method he will use is a thorough information and literature review, an estimate on a classroom design according to MOE requirements, quotations from five prefab and five conventional builders and interviews with at least five prefab classroom users. One of the major limitation of his research is the time in which the research must be completed that may leave some scope for further research on the matter. Christo will finish his degree at the end of 2019 but plan to start a fulltime job in July 2019.
Christo is conducting a research paper on “Feasibility of Modular Prefabricated Classrooms” and needs some estimates and answers from the industry as part of his data collection.
